Description: T. rex roamed the land 66-million years ago in the late Cretaceous period. Among the largest known of the meat-eaters; its stereoscopic vision, large jaw structure and strong bite force were powerful tools against its prey. Compared to other carnivorous dinosaurs, its neck was short and muscular to support its massive head, which was also balanced by the heavy and long tail. Its tiny arms could not have been used in locomotion, indicating that T. rex walked on two legs. Although juveniles were fast, the sheer weight and size indicates that the adult T. rex most likely travelled at the speed of a brisk walk or slow run. |
