Description: Fireworks closed the celebrations for the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at A World of Possibilities —the free outdoor concert celebrating the architectural opening and building dedication on June 2, 2007.
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor-General of Canada, officially opened the Lee-Chin Crystal. An estimated 40,000 people gathered in the new ROM Plaza and on Bloor Street West to witness this historic milestone.
Hosted by actor and writer Paul Gross, the event featured top international and Canadian stars. One of the highlights of the evening was singer-songwriter Jann Arden’s performance of We Can Build Anything; a song written and composed especially for this event by award-winning producer and composer, David Foster.
The ROM opened its doors for free access after the concert event, throughout the night and into the following day. An estimated 22,227 people experienced the ROM first-hand during the opening weekend.
The Lee-Chin Crystal is the centerpiece of Renaissance ROM, the Museum's renovation and expansion project. |
